Lemonade surpasses 2 million active customers

This milestone was achieved 35% faster than the company’s first million customers and comes when Lemonade also sees significant increases in premium per customer. The company’s net operating loss has also roughly halved over the same period.

Lemonade attributes its success to several factors, including its innovative use of artificial intelligence, expansion into new markets, and acquisition of Metromile. The company is also committed to social impact and gives unused premiums to nonprofits its community selects.

“Reaching two million customers worldwide is an exciting milestone, and one achieved much faster than our first and with significant expansion of product and geography along the way,” said Shai Wininger, cofounder and co-CEO of Lemonade.

He added: “We’ve doubled our customers while increasing our premium by 3.5x. This is indicative of the strong progression of the business in recent years and outlines a clear path to profitability.”

Lemonade is available in the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, France, and the UK, and continues to expand globally.
