Central Insurance expands partnership with Shift Technology to improve subrogation detection
Central Insurance has recently expanded its collaboration with Shift Technology, a provider of AI-powered decision automation solutions for the insurance industry.
The expanded partnership includes the integration of Shift Subrogation Detection into Central Insurance’s claims process, allowing for improved identification of claims where third parties may share responsibility for payment. This decision follows Central Insurance’s successful utilisation of Shift Claims Fraud Detection to detect potentially fraudulent activities during the claims process.
By incorporating subrogation detection into its workflow, Central Insurance aims to identify previously hidden opportunities for subrogation and develop optimal recovery strategies.
Jeff Lieberman, director of anti-fraud and recovery at Central Insurance, emphasised the importance of promptly compensating policyholders for their losses.
He says: “Anytime we’re able to efficiently and accurately identify if all or part of a claim is the responsibility of a third party, we ensure our policyholders are paid quickly while creating opportunities to recover that loss for the business.”
Shift Subrogation Detection employs artificial intelligence to analyse claims data comprehensively, encompassing details such as the parties involved and potential faults. The solution generates alerts with specific guidance on subrogation opportunities, enabling optimised demands and recovery execution.
By automating the identification of recovery opportunities, claims handlers can allocate their time and effort more effectively toward cases with a higher likelihood of successful recovery, reducing the need for manual review.
Paul Edwards, vice president of claims at Central Insurance, acknowledged the longstanding challenges of determining responsibility for claims, which often involve time-consuming manual processes.
“Central is turning to innovative solutions like Shift Subrogation Detection to better understand what’s happening in the claims process and ensure the parties truly responsible for a loss are held accountable,” he explains.
